Chico Area Races

january 17th, 2009 - frost or fog

Join us for the 5th annual Frost or Fog 1/4 Marathon and 5K. The races start at 9:00am at 5-Mile Rec Area in Upper Bidwell Park. Both courses are on a combination of paved and gravel roads. Entry fee is $25 until January 3rd and $30 after that. Long-sleeved shirts are only guaranteed for those that register by Jan 3rd. Entry forms are available at the shop.

January 18th, 2009 - Redding marathon

The annual Redding Marathon takes place on Sunday January 18th. There is also a 5K run and, for the first time, a 3-person marathon relay. This is the first NorCal marathon of the year and is a last-gasp opportunity to qualify for Boston!

The marathon course is fast with a net elevation loss of 900'. The race starts at Shasta Dam at 8:00am and proceeds onto the Sacramento River Trail before finishing at the famous Sundial Bridge. The 5K starts at the Sundial Bridge at 9:00am. Before 12/31, entry fees are $54 for the marathon, $99 for a relay team, and $20 for the 5K. Entry fee includes an event shirt. All marathon finishers will receive a medal. Entry forms available at the shop.

march 7th, 2009 - bidwell classic

We are proud to sponsor the 33rd annual Bidwell Classic Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay, and 5K taking place on Saturday March 7th, 2009. All events start at finish in Lower Bidwell Park at the One Mile Rec Area. The 5K run and fun walk starts at 8:30am, and the half marathon run, relay, and racewalk (unjudged) start at 9:00am.

Up to February 21st, registration costs $30 for the 5K ($15 for children 13 and under), $40 for the half marathon ($15 for children 13 and under), and $60 for relay teams in the half marathon. All prices increase after February 21st. Technical T-shirts for all participants that register by February 21st.

A substantial portion of the race entry fees go to the local cross country programs at Chico High School and Pleasant Valley High School. When you participate in the Bidwell Classic, you are supporting local student athletes. Entry forms coming soon.

We are pleased to sponsor the 2nd Annual Trail Less Traveled 1/4 marathon and 5K. Taking place on Sunday April 5th at Saddle Dam in the Lake Oroville State Rec. Area, this is a beautiful but challenging trail run. Events start at 9:00 AM ... more details soon!

may 9th, 2009 - 7th Annual City of Gold Triathlon

Swim the waters of Lake Oroville, bike the winding slopes of Kelly Ridge and Miner's Ranch Roads, and run the scenic Dan Beebee Trail. We are pleased to sponsor the 7th annual City of Gold Triathlon at Bidwell Canyon Recreation Area. This sprint triathlon features a 1/2 mile swim, a 12-mile bike ride, and a 5K run.
